Onir Slams Karan Johar After The Latter Hints Disappointment Over Box Office Clash With Sriram Raghavan's 'Merry Christmas'

For those unaware, Onir is the director of National Award-winning film 'I Am'.

New Delhi: After Karan Johar hinted at being upset about Sriram Raghavan announcing the release date of his upcoming film 'Merry Christmas' which clashes with Karan's 'Yodha', filmmaker Onir took to Twitter to write about film clashes at the box office. Onir's tweet comes only a day after Karan shared his disappointment over the alleged box office clash. Onir shared that filmmakers with big pockets are showing care for each other in the fraternity but they would never bother if their film was released alongside a smaller indie film.

For those unaware, Onir is the director of National Award-winning film 'I Am'.

Taking to his official Twitter handle, Onir wrote, "Big Bollywood releases get so upset when there is another big budget release the same day and they talk about how we should all care for each other in the industry, but don’t think for a second when they deprive a small budget indie film of a tiny number of good shows to survive.”

Onir's tweet comes on after Karan' post on Threads where the director made a veiled attack on acclaimed filmmaker Sriram Raghavan. The filmmaker-producer was all set to release 'Yodha' on December 15, after a host of delays, but was disappointed when Sriram Raghavan announced the release of his film on the same day. In the post which Karan wrote, it is not good for the industry if makers don't discuss the release dates of their films.

“Clashing on a date without the courtesy of a phone call is hopefully not the way forward for the studios and producers …. If we don’t stand united in these tough and challenging theatrical days then calling us a fraternity is futile…” His post was written.

Meanwhile, 'Yodha' stars Siddharth Malhotra, Disha Patani, Raashi Khanna and has been directed by Sagar Ambre and Pushkar Ojha. On the other hand, 'Merry Christmas' stars Katrina Kaif and Vikay Sethupathi in the lead.
