Nayanthara Upset With Atlee For Being 'Sidelined' in Jawan, May Not Do Any Bollywood Film: Report

Nayanthara made her debut in Hindi films with 'Jawan'. The actor, who received appreciation for her performance, is reportedly not happy with how her role was treated in the film.

New Delhi: Nayanthara made her debut in Hindi films with 'Jawan', which is doing wonders at the box office. The actor, who received appreciation for her performance, is reportedly not happy with how her role was treated in the film and is upset with director Atlee for the same.

According to a report in Hindustan Times, Nayanthara is not up for any other Bollywood project for now as she is not happy with how her character panned out in the film and how Deepika’s role, despite being a cameo, was given more importance.

“She has been very upset with Atlee because her role was chopped in the film. Also, Deepika’s (Padukone) character was elevated and Nayantara’s part was significantly sidelined,” Hindustan Times quoted its source as saying.

Many felt that Deepika’s role was not a cameo as portrayed during the promotions. . “It was not a cameo at all. Jawan was almost made to look like an SRK-Deepika film. Nayanthara is the leading actor down south, and hence, she was not happy with the treatment of Jawan. And that can never well be the reason why we might not see her in a Bollywood project, at least not anytime soon,” the source told Hindustan Times.

There were also speculations that this was the reason why Nayanthara was absent from the film's promotion. She didn't attend the film's pre-release event in Chennai and was absent from Jawan's success press conference. As per the report, this is not the case and the actor never promotes her films.

“Nayanthara never goes to the films events. She follows a no promotion policy for her films because of her bad experiences in the past when she was misquoted and because she feels that her job is to act and not get involved in the promotional activities," the source was quoted as saying by Hindustan Times.

Meanwhile, 'Jawan' has amassed Rs 907.54 crore at the global box office in 13 days of its release.

The film also stars Vijay Sethupathi, Sanya Malhotra, Priyamani, Girija Oak, Sanjeeta Bhattacharya, Lehar Khan, Aaliyah Qureshi, Ridhi Dogra, Sunil Grover and Mukesh Chhabra.
