Netizens Criticise Nandamuri Balakrishna And Urvashi Rautela's Song 'Dabidi Dibidi' Over 'Vulgar' Choreography And Age Gap
The controversy surrounding Urvashi Rautela and Nandamuri Balakrishna's song 'Dabidi Dibidi' has raised questions about the approval process for such choreography.
New Delhi: The new song 'Dabidi Dibidi' from the upcoming action film 'Daaku Maharaaj', which stars Urvashi Rautela and Nandamuri Balakrishna, has caused a great deal of controversy online. The song's controversial choreography has been making waves online since its premiere yesterday. Many have called the dancing steps "vulgar" and "cringe-worthy."
Netizens have voiced their disapproval of the choreography for the song, with many criticising the big age difference between the two actors. Many have commented on the 'inappropriate' dance style of 64-year-old Balakrishna and 30-year-old Urvashi. The duo's awkward performance in the song has made the music video go viral for all the wrong reasons.
The video shows Balakrishna dancing in a provocative manner, which includes striking Rautela on the belly button, yanking her and slapping her behind. The video shows Urvashi Rautela, who is wearing a skirt and crop top, smiling as the uncomfortable dance goes on. Critics have referred to the dance's moves as "sleazy" and the music as "offensive trash."

If Bollywood did this, there would’ve been national sanskaar outrage, with hashtags about protecting Bharatiya culture trending everywhere...
But now? Sab chup, not a peep! Hypocrisy! 🤡#DabidiDibidi #Balayya

Age doesnt matter. Dance is the most purest form of art. Choreographers need to respect that. They can’t show vulgarity & give a name dance to it. How did the director or actor approve to do this?#DabidiDibidi #NBK #DaakuMaharaaj pic.twitter.com/OMETyzAUKY

Some have drawn comparisons between the dance numbers in the song and those seen in Bollywood films; one user commented, "Our 'Bandra, Juhu' directors don't make this level of (poop emoji)."
Some Balakrishna supporters have even proposed removing and reshooting the song, which has only served to heighten the criticism.
The makers of ‘Daaku Maharaaj’ have not yet addressed the increasing backlash against ‘Dabidi Dibidi’.
The film is set to be released in theatres on January 12.
