Karan Johar Wants Next Season Of Koffee With Karan To 'Just Be Fun, Not Controversial', Says His Image Is Far From The Human He Is

Filmmaker Karan Johar revealed the potential date of the upcoming season of 'Koffee With Karan'.

New Delhi: By consistently featuring an eclectic group of celebrities and showing real interest in the lives of each guest, the talk programme ‘Koffee With Karan’ won over viewers. Karan Johar-led show premiered in November 2004 and completed its eighth season last year. Recently, the filmmaker was interviewed by Sucharita Tyagi where he talked about how his show has changed over the years and why. He also revealed the potential date of the upcoming season of 'Koffee With Karan'.

Announcing the upcoming season of 'Koffee With Karan', Karan Johar said, "I thought I'd take one year off. So, I took 2024 off. It's going to be back in 2025 around the second half of 2025. We want to come back with a new syntax this time.”

Karan Johar Says ‘Koffee with Karan 8’ Had the Most Boring Rapid-fire

According to Karan Johar, celebrities increasingly avoid giving him interesting responses on his programme. He said, “This time on ‘Koffee with Karan’, I'm just going to make sure that we have it more conversational, more chatty and let's not get into like a sensational conversation rapid fire because nobody's giving me those answers anyway.”

He added, “I have to say, this season - in the history of Koffee with Karan, it was the most boring rapid fire. It was so boring that I was like snooze alert. I'm like yeah why am I even doing this? Should we just drop the rapid fire?”

Karan Johar Says Celebs Are Scared to Give Answers Now

Karan Johar discussed the increasing caution celebrities exercise regarding their statements on 'Koffee With Karan'. "We get big messages like can you delete this? Everyone's so worried and I don't blame them because everything can be a nightmare. Everything becomes like a clickbait headline and like they'll say one thing and the way you say it and the way it reads are very different. That's what's been happening like people are scared to open up they don't say anything the way they used to," he said.

Karan Johar on His Public Image From the Show

Karan Johar also spoke about the trolls he receives because of his persona on the chat show. He said, "I know how people have dissed me or trolled me. The sad thing is that there is an impression of me which is only because of the show and it's very far from the human being I believe I am."

He added, "I make fun of myself all the time and I'm like that's how. Similarly, when I'm laughing at something, I'm doing it in good humour."

He concluded, “I'm too old to be upset. I'm 52 years old. I've been in the business for 30 years. Now I want Shanti (peace) and I want Koffee with Karan to just be fun but not controversial.”
