Gippy has expressed his conviction that the highly anticipated film 'Akaal: The Unconquered,' which delves into the darker and more intricate sides of human emotion, has the potential to have a profound influence on Punjabi cinema. “In Punjabi cinema, it’s not that only comedies are made—there are other genres too. But yes, comedy films tend to be the biggest hits, which is why it may seem like more comedies are made. But if a role like the one in Aakal becomes successful, it will definitely change people’s perception. They’ll see that tough, hard-hitting roles can work too," he had previously remarked to IANS.

About ‘Akaal’

'Akaal' is the first Punjabi movie to be shown in Hindi on this magnitude. The movie, which depicts Punjabi culture and history, seeks to appeal to viewers both domestically and internationally. Nimrat Khaira, Gurpreet Ghuggi, Prince Kanwaljit Singh, Nikitin Dheer, and Mita Vashisht will also feature in the film with Gippy Grewal.

The film is set to release on Vaisakhi on April 10th, 2025.
