Obama captioned his post, "Here are a few movies I’d recommend checking out this year." The post he shared read, "Barack Obama's favourite movies of 2024--All We Imagine as Light, Conclave, The Piano Lesson, The Promised Land, The Seed of the Sacred Fig, Dune: Part Two, Anora, Didi, A Complete Unknown.”

About All We Imagine As Light
'All We Imagine As Light' has been getting a lot of appreciation globally. The film made history after it won the prestigious Cannes Grand Prix this year. The achievement marked a big feat for India after Payal became the first Indian filmmaker in 30 years to feature in Cannes' main competition section.
'All We Imagine As Light' has been nominated for two Golden Globes and Critics' Choice Awards 2025. Payal also received the Spirit of Cinema award at the 29th International Film Festival of Kerala( IFFK).
'All We Imagine As Light' is an official Indo-French co-production between Petit Chaos (France) and Chalk & Cheese and Another Birth (India).

The Payal Kapadia film has been winning praise and appreciation from all quarters. Recently, filmmakers like Hansal Mehta and Vikramaditya Motwane shared their disappointment with the Film Film Federation for not choosing ‘All We Imagine As Light’ as India’s official entry to the Oscars.
Many fans have also been disappointed with FFI after its official entry ‘Laapataa Ladies’ refused to make it to the Oscars.
Meanwhile, Barack Obama, who was US President from 2008-16 has been sharing his recommendations of favourite films, books and TV shows at the end of each year for a few years now.
