Arun Govil On Ranbir Kapoor Playing Lord Ram In Nitesh Tiwari's Ramayana: 'Bohot Sanskaari Hain'

New Delhi: Director Nitesh Tiwari's ambitious project, 'Ramayana,' is making waves as it gears up to bring the epic saga to the silver screen. The trilogy, set to unfold with leading Bollywood actors, has sparked excitement among audiences. Ranbir Kapoor is set to portray Lord Rama, Sai Pallavi as Sita Maa, Yash as Raavan, and Sunny Deol as Lord Hanuman, adding grandeur to the mythological narrative.

Arun Govil, revered for his portrayal of Lord Ram in the iconic TV show 'Ramayan,' shared his perspective on Ranbir Kapoor stepping into the role. In an interview with Bollywood Spy, the senior actor expressed confidence in Ranbir Kapoor's abilities, stating, "He is a good actor. He is an award-winning actor.”He said, “Jitna jaanta hoon main unko, bohot sanskaari bacche hain voh. Unke andar morals, sanskar, sanskriti hai. Maine dekha hai kayi baar unko. I'm sure that he will try to do his level best ( From what I know about him, he is a very cultured boy. He has morals, values, and culture within him. I’m sure that he will try to do his level best)."

Reports also suggest Sunny Deol will portray Lord Hanuman in the film while Bobby Deol may join as Kumbhkaran.

According to India Today, Ranbir Kapoor underwent a look test for his role as Lord Ram, impressing the team with his appearance. The director prefers Ranbir to maintain a lean physique rather than bulk up for the character.

With over five years of pre-production, 'Ramayana' promises to captivate audiences with its script and visuals. While the official announcement from the filmmakers is awaited, the film is reportedly scheduled for release next year. Filming for the movie has commenced this month, aiming for completion by July, with a target release during Diwali 2025.
