Amitabh Bachchan Sells Mumbai Duplex For Whopping Rs 83 Crore, Know Details

Amitabh Bachchan has made a staggering profit of 168% by selling his luxurious duplex apartment in Mumbai's Oshiwara area.

New Delhi: Bollywood superstar Amitabh Bachchan sold his opulent duplex residence in Oshiwara, Mumbai, for an astounding Rs 83 crore, according to Square Yards' study of property registration records. Registered in January 2025, the transaction represents a substantial return on investment for the legendary actor, who bought the home for Rs 31 crore in April 2021, representing a phenomenal 168% gain in value.

The duplex is situated on 1.55 acres in the centre of Oshiwara in The Atlantis, a high-end residential project created by Crystal Group. According to property registration documents reviewed by Square Yards, the premium duplex apartment boasts a built-up area of 529.94 sqm, a carpet area of 5,185.62 sqft, and a spacious terrace measuring 445.93 sqm. The property also includes six mechanised car parking spaces. The transaction incurred a stamp duty payment of Rs 4.98 crore and registration charges of Rs 30,000.

The vibrant Oshiwara neighbourhood in western Mumbai is well-known for its proximity to the Lokhandwala Complex and its exciting nightlife. The location also has great road connections and is accessible to the Mumbai Metro.

Interestingly, actress Kriti Sanon rented the same flat in November 2021 for Rs 10 lakh a month and a Rs 60 lakh security deposit.

The Bachchan family's larger real estate endeavours, which included a substantial investment of more than Rs 100 crore in 2024 alone, including this most recent transaction. Between 2020 and 2024, they invested over Rs 200 crore in real estate, including both residential and commercial assets in neighbourhoods like Oshiwara and Magathane (Borivali East).
