New Delhi: After Sanjay Leela Bhansali's 1999 movie 'Hum Dil De Chuke', Aishwarya Rai and Salman Khan supposedly dated for a few years. During an interview with Simi Garewal in 2012, Aishwarya was asked about her breakup with Salman and the incident where he stormed the sets of her film Chalte Chalte, which led to Rani Mukerji taking over as the lead opposite Shah Rukh Khan.

Aishwarya Rai refused to speak about her ex-boyfriend when asked to "look back at the Salman episode objectively."
She said, “I think I have quite shut it out. I think I wouldn’t want to get into looking at it any which way and especially on a public platform. I really wouldn't want to.”
When Simi asked, “Do you feel negatively about it?' Aishwarya said, “I’ve exorcised my demons; it’s a thing of the past; it needs to be left right there.”

When Aishwarya refused to talk about her past relationship, Simi tried to push her to talk about it again by questioning if she still cared about it that much.
Aishwarya stated that she prefers to keep "certain situations and aspects of her life" out of the public eye when asked if recalling her past relationship with Salman Khan hurts.
Aishwarya said, “I am not a soloist… With me comes my family, my loved ones, people I love and care about very dearly. So there is an obvious wall. Yes there is; and there is no denial of it."
Abhishek Bachchan and Aishwarya Rai got married in April 2007. The couple has a daughter named Aaradhya Bachchan. Meanwhile, Salman Khan reportedly dated actor Katrina Kaif for a while before starting a relationship with Romanian actor Lulia Vântur.
