New Delhi: Actor Shah Rukh Khan recently denied the claim that he was in any way involved in helping the release of eight Indian Navy veterans in Qatar. Aamir Khan, who is busy promoting Laapataa Ladies, was asked about the whole episode in a recent interview.

In a conversation with TV9 Bharatvarsh, when asked about the same, Aamir did not address specific diplomatic matters but shed light on his willingness to assist various governments and government bodies in spreading social messages.

Aamir Khan told TV9 Bharatvarsh, "Many a times, different governments or government bodies have requested me to help with social messages. I am always available for that. So yes, I try and help in any way I can."

The actor has addressed issues such as honour killings, female foeticide, marital rape, criminalisation of politics, untouchability, and other harsh realities of Indian society on his TV show Satyamev Jayate that aired between 2012 and 2014.

Additionally, he co-founded the Paani Foundation, a non-profit organisation working in drought prevention and watershed management in Maharashtra. Aamir has also acted in socially impactful films like Rang De Basanti, Taare Zameen Par, PK, and Peepli Live.

Shah Rukh Khan denied rumours
Earlier, Shah Rukh Khan had cleared rumours about the actor’s involvement in the release of India’s naval officers from Qatar by releasing a statement that read:  “Regarding the reports concerning Shah Rukh Khan's purported role in the release of India's naval officers from Qatar, the office of Mr. Shah Rukh Khan says that any such assertions of his involvement are unfounded, emphasizing the execution of this successful resolution solely rests with the Indian government officials and unequivocally denies Mr.Khan’s participation in this matter.”

“Additionally, all matters involving diplomacy and statecraft are best executed by our very able leaders. Mr. Khan like many other Indians is happy that the naval officers are home safe and wishes them all the best.”
