'Correct Deepika's Costumes In Pathaan's 'Besharam Rang' Video Or...': MP Home Minister's Warning
Objections have been raised over Deepika Padukone's saffron costume in a song titled 'Besharam Rang'.
A saffron costume worn by actor Deepika Padukone in the upcoming film, starring Bollywood star Shah Rukh Khan, 'Pathaan' is now in the centre of a row. Objecting to the colour of the dress, Madhya Pradesh Home Minister Narottam Mishra on Wednesday said the costumes and scenes in the film "obscene and condemnable".
Reacting to the film's promos, both the ruling and the Opposition in Madhya Pradesh have raised objections to the saffron costume worn by the actor in the film. Narottam Mishra said: "It should be corrected, or the state government will be forced to take a decision on the screening of the film."
The costume that Deepika Padukone is seen wearing is featured in the song 'Besharam Rang', which has been trending on social media since its release on Tuesday.
Accusing the actor of supporting the 'Tukde Tukde' gang, Mishra said, "Actress Deepika Padukone's costume is highly objectionable and the song has been shot with a dirty mindset."
The Leader of Opposition in Madhya Pradesh Assembly, Govind Singh, also expressed his anger on the costumes used in the song. "The scenes of the song and costumes are highly objectionable. Such things are not acceptable in Indian culture," Singh said.
Meanwhile, right-wing organisation Sanskriti Bachao Manch staged a protest against the film. It accused the makers of the film of calling "saffron a shameless colour with obscenity".
Chandrashekhar Tiwari, a member of the outfit, said, "This is an insult to our saffron dress, which Sanskruti Bachao Manch will not tolerate. Shahrukh Khan, when Hindus started boycotting your film, you remembered Vaishno devi. You will have to apologise to all Hindus and remove the song from this film because the people of India have made you a superstar. Shahrukh Khan, why are you always degrading your image by doing such acts? You should apologise to all Sanatan Dharma believers."
