Apoorva Mukhija Was Asked To Vacate Home After India’s Got Latent Controversy?

Apoorva Mukhija says Mumbai landlord evicted her after police visited post-controversy, pushing her to reclaim her feminist stance and her security deposit.

Apoorva Mukhija, popularly known as The Rebel Kid, has revealed that she was compelled to move out of her Mumbai residence following a police visit related to India’s Got Lalent controversy. The rising star shared her experience in the latest episode of The Bombay Journey, where she appeared as a guest.

Apoorva Mukhija reveals why she had to shift house

Apoorva recounted that after police arrived at her doorstep to deliver a notice and summon her, the building management lodged a complaint. “Arrey yaar, because the cops came to my house to put up a notice and to summon me, the building management raised a complaint … so the owner told me to leave,” she shared in Hindi. She added that this incident led to the apartment’s policy on single women being questioned and resulted in her eviction.

Expressing her disappointment, Apoorva said, “So somehow, I was single‑handedly responsible for evacuating feminism out of that building. Kyunki mere ghar par police aayi thi.” She confirmed that she reclaimed her full security deposit after vacating the premises, where she had lived for a year.

The Rebel Kid’s India’s Got Lalent controversy

Earlier in April, viewers noticed signs of departure when Apoorva posted an Instagram Story showing the lights dimming in an empty apartment, captioned with the words, “End of an era.” This followed the uproar stirred by her appearance on India’s Got Latent, in which a fellow panelist, Ranveer Allahbadia, made contentious remarks about parents and sex—an episode that led to FIRs and deleted content. Apoorva was also criticised and stepped back from social media after the backlash.

Now appearing on ‘The Traitors’, the reality show hosted by Karan Johar, Apoorva has reentered the public spotlight. Her disclosure of being forced out of her home highlights the personal repercussions of media controversy.
