Virat’s special note for Anushka

Virat Kohli, who has played for RCB since the first IPL season, shared a heartfelt message on Instagram. Along with a photo from the final at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad, he wrote, “I’ve seen it for 18 years and she’s seen it for 11. Suffered the same moments since 2014 and celebrated every close win and the madness of our supporters at the Chinnaswamy. We’re both equally relieved and since shes a bangalore girl too this is far more special for her. Together all the way through @anushkasharma (sic).”

After the win, an emotional Virat ran to Anushka with tears in his eyes. She hugged and congratulated him in a moment that was captured by cameras.

In the final, RCB scored 190/9 in 20 overs. Kohli top-scored with 43 runs off 35 balls. Arshdeep Singh and Kyle Jamieson took three wickets each for Punjab. In response, Punjab Kings scored 184/7, falling short by six runs.

This was a long-awaited win for RCB fans, and it came shortly after Kohli announced his retirement from Test cricket.
