New Delhi: Alluri Sitarama Raju's year long 125th birth anniversary celebrations began with PM Narendra Modi unveiling a 30-foot-tall statue of the freedom fighter in Andhra Pradesh on Monday. Incidentally or coincidentally SS Rajamouli's 'RRR' also released on the 125th birth anniversary year of the freedom fighter. Why we mention 'RRR' is because the film is a historical fiction that dramatizes the life of Alluri Sitarama Raju and Komaram Bheem portrayed by Ram Charan and Jr. NTR respectively.
While both historical figures never met each other and led different struggles against British colonial rule in India, 'RRR' fictionalized history to make these characters come together and fight collectively against them.
To mark the 125th birth anniversary of the legend, makers of 'RRR' also posted a special message for Alluri Sitarama Raju on Twitter. Their tweet read, "Remembering the Legendary #AlluriSitaRamaraju garu on his 125th Birth Anniversary, today. We honour the revolutionary leader for his boundless courage and indomitable spirit for the selfless service to the nation."
Ram Charan portrayed the role of Alluri Sitarama Raju in the film also retweeted the said post. Ram Charan received praise for his performance of the freedom fighter in the film from all quarters.
SS Rajamouli, the director of 'RRR' is known for making such historical-mythological narratives that have some basis in reality. 'RRR' was Rajamouli's magnum opus which had been in the making for the last many years. Rajamouli's earlier films like 'Baahubali', 'Baahubali 2' were also mythologically-inspired films that were mass-entertainers and broke many box office records.
