The All Indian Cine Workers Association (AICWA) has formally petitioned Prime Minister Narendra Modi, expressing deep concern over the recent reappearance of social media accounts belonging to Pakistani actors in India. The matter gained prominence when Mawra Hocane’s Instagram account, previously blocked following the Pahalgam terror attack, was reportedly accessible in India again.

Urgent Demands for Digital Decoupling

AICWA’s statement condemns the situation, “It is deeply concerning and absolutely unacceptable that social media accounts of Pakistani artists like Mawra Hocane, Yumna Zaidi, and several Pakistan-based channels are once again visible in India. This is not merely a digital appearance — it is a direct insult to the sacrifice of our martyred soldiers and an emotional assault on every Indian who lost a loved one in terror attacks perpetrated by Pakistan.”

They continued by highlighting the gravity of Pakistan’s past actions, noting, “Let the nation not forget — Pakistan was, is, and will remain a terrorist nation. From 26/11 Mumbai attacks to Pulwama, Uri, and Pahalgam, Pakistan has consistently waged war on India through terrorism.”

In their letter to PM Modi, the association advocated the following actions, "Enforce an immediate nationwide digital blackout of all Pakistani social media accounts and media channels."

Ban any future collaborations or promotions involving Pakistani citizens in Indian media, OTT platforms, and advertising. “Declare a permanent cultural disconnect from Pakistan, as a mark of respect to the Indian Armed Forces and the families of our martyrs.”

Pakistani Actors Ban in India

AICWA has not held back in recent controversies. Earlier, they demanded the suspension of Diljit Dosanjh’s social media presence in India and the removal of his music and films from major streaming platforms. This demand surfaced following Dosanjh’s decision to cast Pakistani actor Hania Aamir in Sardaar Ji 3, reigniting the cultural and political debate surrounding cross-border collaborations.
