'Yes, why not', Congress President Rahul Gandhi on becoming PM in 2019

After coming out of the venue, the 47-year-old in his usual stance attacked PM Narendra Modi and BS Yeddyurappa who is BJP’s chief ministerial candidate for upcoming elections.

Bengaluru (Karnataka): Rahul Gandhi on Tuesday questioned why he can’t he become the prime minister if Congress emerges as the single largest party in 2019 polls. He said this during ‘Samriddh Bharat’ event here. Gandhi’s statement assumes significance as for the first time he has indicated that he is vying for the top post of the country. After coming out of the venue, the 47-year-old in his usual stance attacked PM Narendra Modi and BS Yeddyurappa who is BJP’s chief ministerial candidate for upcoming elections. “We are repeatedly asking the Prime Minister why has he chosen a corrupt person, who has been in jail as his party's CM candidate,” he asked. Gandhi also attacked Modi ‘for giving tickets to Reddy brothers who are involved in Rs 35,000 crore scam’. Polling will be held on May 12 in Karnataka. Results will be counted on May 15.
