Wayanad Bypolls: Rahul Gandhi Calls For 'Wayanadinte Priyankari'; Priyanka Says, 'Let's Build A Future Together'

Voting commenced at 1,354 polling stations in the hilly Wayanad constituency with early reports from the Election Commission indicating a turnout of 6.96 percent within the first hour.

As voting began in Kerala’s Wayanad constituency for the Lok Sabha bypoll, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi made an appeal to voters, urging them to support his sister, Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, the Congress candidate in this election. Highlighting her dedication, he expressed confidence that Priyanka Gandhi would serve as more than just a representative, becoming “their sister, daughter, and advocate.”

Rahul Gandhi said, "I’m reaching out to my family in Wayanad—this election, my sister Priyanka Gandhi is ready to be your voice in Parliament. She will be more than just a representative—she will be your sister, your daughter, and your advocate. I am confident she will help unlock Wayanad’s full potential.

"I urge all of you to come out, vote, and support her. Let’s ensure a resounding victory together! #WayanadintePriyankari," he said.

At a polling station, Priyanka Gandhi Vadra expressed hope that voters would exercise their democratic right, emphasising her commitment to repaying the affection shown by Wayanad’s people and working as their representative.

Addressing reporters on her potential to exceed Rahul Gandhi’s previous victory margin, Priyanka remarked, “that is yet to be seen.”

Priyanka’s presence in Wayanad marks a significant moment for the Congress, as she aims to connect with the constituency Rahul Gandhi previously represented and expand on his legacy in Parliament. In a post on X, Priyanka called for everyone to vote and said that 'let's build a better future together'.

Voting commenced at 1,354 polling stations in the hilly Wayanad constituency, where over 14 lakh voters are registered. Early reports from the Election Commission indicated a turnout of 6.96 percent in Wayanad within the first hour. The Left Democratic Front (LDF) has fielded Sathyan Mokeri, while the BJP’s candidate is Navya Haridas. Speaking at a polling center, BJP candidate Navya Haridas criticised Congress, alleging vote influence tactics involving "kits, money, and liquor."
