Yogi Adityanath Speech: Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Thursday said it was clear mandate by the people for development.
New Delhi: With the ruling BJP set to retain power in Uttar Pradesh, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Thursday said it was clear mandate by the people for development.
Adityanath also said people had buried politics of caste and religion by ensuring victory of BJP in Uttar Pradesh.
Addressing party workers at the BJP office in Lucknow, Yogi Adityanath said, "Everyone had their eyes on UP, given the vastness of the state. I am thankful to the people for making us win with majority...Under PM Modi's leadership we will be forming govts in UP, Goa, Manipur, and Uttarakhand."
"The people of UP have buried the dynastic politics and also politics of caste and religion by ensuring victory to the BJP and its allies," Adityanath said.
Adityanath was greeted by a huge crowd of party workers at the BJP office in Lucknow. Adityanath, who contested from Gorakhpur Urban seat, is also headed for a landslide victory from the constituency.
The firebrand Hindutva leader also said the "misleading" campaign run by the Opposition over the past 2-3 days had been set aside by the people who reposed faith in the good governance of the BJP. He was apparently taking a dig at Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav for raising questions over EVMs.
"The false propaganda regarding EVMs and election material over the last few days have been rejected," Adityanath said.
Yogi Adityanath said the victory was a win for Prime Minister Narendra Modi's policiesand it showed people's trust in him.
"Today BJP and alliances have won in UP and got full majorit. For the first time, seven phases of the elections and counting have gone smoothly. I would like to thank the Election Commission as well. This victory is a win for PM Modi’s policies and people trust PM Modi and have granted another chance to serve better," Adityanath said.
Yogi Adityanath was an unexpected pick for the chief minister's post after the BJP scored a landslide win in the 2017 Uttar Pradesh Assembly polls.
Reacting to the election results, Union Home Minister Amit Shah said people had put their stamp of approval on Yogi Adityanath's good governance, which is free from corruption and fear.
"BJP's grand win in UP is victory of unshakable faith of poor and farmers in PM Modi's welfare programmes," Amit Shah said.
