UP Assembly Election 2022: Election Commission Bans Exit Polls From Feb 10 to March 7. Check Details

New Delhi: The Election Commission of India has banned all exit polls for the upcoming Assembly election in Uttar Pradesh. The ban has been ordered from 7 am on February 10 to 6.30 pm on March 7.
Chief Electoral Officer of Uttar Pradesh Ajay Kumar Shukla in a statement released on Saturday said, "conducting the exit polls, its publication in print or electronic media or its publicity has been banned from 7.00 am on February 10 to 6.30 pm on March 7."
Those violating the order could be jailed for at least two years and fine or both, the Election Commission further added.

Election in Uttar Pradesh is going to be conducted in seven phases - February 10, February 14, February 20, Feb 23, Feb 27, March 3 and March 7 - from February 10 to March 7. While the counting of the votes will take place on March 10.
In the first phase, 58 assembly constituencies will go to the polls. In the second and the third phases elections will be held on 55 and 59 seats, respectively. The fifth phase will cover 60 constituencies, while sixth and the last phase will observe polling on 57 and 54 seats, respectively.
The last Assembly election held in Uttar Pradesh in 2017 was also concluded in 7 phases in which the alliance of Bharatiya Janata Party won a full majority securing 312 of the 403 assembly seats.
Elections will also be held in Goa, Punjab, Manipur, and Uttarakhand from February 10. In total 690 assembly constituencies will go to polls in the election-bound five states. The counting will be held on March 10
Meanwhile, physical rallies and roadshows are banned in all poll-bound states until January 31.
