‘Sheer Hooliganism’: TMC Shares Clip Of Adhir’s 'Altercation With Its Worker', Cong Leader Clarifies

In the video, Adhir is purportedly seen stepping out his vehicle while campaigning in Behrampore and angrily charging at a person who the TMC claimed to be one of their local workers.

New Delhi: Congress MP Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury was seen purportedly getting into an altercation with a TMC worker in his Lok Sabha constituency, Behrampore, in a video shared by the ruling party in West Bengal.

In the video, Adhir, who is also the Congress’s Bengal president, is purportedly seen stepping out his vehicle while campaigning in his constituency and angrily charging at a person who the TMC claimed to be one of their local workers.

Sharing the video on X, the TMC posted, “Seems like some things never change, huh? @adhirrcinc is clearly stuck in his hooligan past. In broad daylight, this Congress MP was caught red-handed, violently pushing our party worker. And guess what? The CCTV footage has recorded this shameful act for all to see. Is this the kind of leadership Baharampur deserves? SHAME!”

The video also showed the Congress chief purportedly shoving the “TMC worker” in a moment of fury.

“SHEER DISPLAY OF HOOLIGANISM BY ADHIR RANJAN CHOWDHURY Your thuggery in Baharampur won't go unnoticed. Your fear of losing elections is pretty evident from your actions. But using muscle power to intimidate our workers won't help you in anyway! SHAME!,” the TMC added in its post.

However, issuing a clarification on the incident, the Congress MP claimed at a press conference that some people raised “go back” slogans as he was on his way home after campaigning for the Lok Sabha elections.

He added that the persons chanting slogans against him demanded to know what he had done for the constituency all these years.

“While I was driving home after campaigning, a few people came and started chanting 'go back' slogan. When I got out of the car, they started saying that I haven't done anything in the last five years,” he said.

However, speaking on the incident, ruling TMC spokesperson Kunal Ghosh told ANI, “It reflects the culture of Congress... He is in mental stress. He knows that the Congress and BJP will not win here, and was venting out his frustration.”
