BRS Moves EC Against Telangana CM Revanth Reddy And BJP Over 'Model Code Violation'
The BRS demanded immediate suspension of BJP's 'X' page from campaigning activities and the prosecution of individuals responsible for allegedly "morphing" the images of prominent BRS leaders.
The BRS in Telangana on Wednesday lodged a complaint with the Election Commission accusing Telangana Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy and the state BJP of purportedly violating the Model Code of Conduct (MCC), currently enforced for the Lok Sabha elections.
Submitting separate representations to the EC, the BRS urged immediate action, calling for a ban on Revanth Reddy's campaigning for the parliamentary elections and initiation of disciplinary measures against him and the Congress for their alleged MCC violations.
Additionally, BRS demanded the immediate suspension of the BJP's 'X' page from campaigning activities and the prosecution of individuals responsible for allegedly "morphing" the images of prominent BRS leaders.
Citing a speech made by CM Revanth Reddy at a Congress public gathering held on the outskirts of the city on April 6, the BRS accused him of using "most abusive and filthy language and also passed derogatory comments" against BRS president and former chief minister K Chandrasekhar Rao, as per a report on PTI.
Furthermore, the BRS asserted that during the enforcement of the poll code, an image featuring morphed faces of prominent BRS leaders accompanied by abusive and derogatory comments was shared on the official 'X' page of the BJP.
Meanwhile, the BRS complained to the Election Commission against Congress MP Rahul Gandhi, alleging a violation of election rules.
The complaint read, "It is submitted that, as part of the said speech, he passed derogatory comments on Shri K Chandrashekar Rao Garu stating that he is involved in phone tapping case and that he has misused the State's police and intelligence authorities when he was the Hon'ble Chief Minister of Telangana, which is an illegal and malafide on the part of Shri Rahul Gandhi ji."
