Telangana Elections: Seat sharing among grand alliance to be finalised within a week, says Congress
The talks with TDP, TJS and CPI are in the final stage and the seat-sharing arrangement will be revealed to people on November 9th.
New Delhi: Congress on Monday held a meeting with the parties of the proposed grand alliance to chalk out a seat-sharing formula for the upcoming December 7 polls. The meeting comes at a time when the demands of Communist Party of India (CPI) and the Telangana Jana Samithi (TJS) for an ‘appropriate’ share are growing louder.
Telangana Congress Committee president N Uttam Kumar Reddy informed mediapersons that he would go to Delhi today as part of his party’s consultation process on finalising the candidates. As per theAICC incharge of party affairs in Telangana RC Khuntia the final seat-sharing arrangement will be decided on November 9. He stressed that there is no problem within the parties over the number of seats.
Congress in a bid to stitch an alliance with is Telangana Jana Samithi, Telugu Desam Party and Communist Party of India is holding talks with the aforesaid parties. The talks are in the final stage and the seat-sharing arrangement will be revealed to people on November 9th.
The TJS is reportedly seeking more seats than what is being offered in the alliance. The TDP, TJS and CPI are reportedly seeking 18, 14, and at least five seats respectively.
Telangana is going for assembly polls on December 7. The Gazette notification for the polls will be issued on November 12 and the last date of nominations is November 19, according to the schedule released by the Election Commission. There are a total of 119 assembly seats in Telangana.
