Telangana Assembly Polls: KCR calls up Jagan Mohan Reddy after attack to enquire about his health
Jagan Mohan Reddy was allegedly stabbed on his arm by an unidentified assailant at Visakhapatnam Airport.
New Delhi: After the attack on YSR Congress chief Jagan Mohan Reddy with a sharp-edged material on Thursday, the caretaker Chief Minister of Telangana and the president of Telangana Rashtra Samithi K Chandrashekhar Rao (KCR) called up Reddy to enquire about his health.
Rao enquired Reddy about the injuries and the treatment involved. He also advised Reddy to take proper rest and wished him a fast recovery, an official press release said.
Reddy was allegedly stabbed on his arm by an unidentified assailant at Visakhapatnam Airport. The sharp-edged metal object used as a weapon to attack Reddy was seized by the police. Reddy was seen in visuals standing along police officials at the airport with a bleeding arm. The attacker was also apprehended by the police and was taken for interrogation. AIMIM MP Asaduddin Owaisi issued a strong condemnation on Twitter over the 'cowardly' attack on Reddy.
Reddy is the leader of the opposition in the Andhra Pradesh assembly and has been prepping up for the crucial assembly polls in the state of Telangana. He was recently on a marathon foot march in neighbouring Andhra Pradesh covering over 3000 km.
The Election Commission (EC) had on October 6 announced the election schedule for five states, including Telangana, which would go to the polls on December 7.
The Telangana Assembly was dissolved on September 6.
