'Congress's 'Ram' Shut Me Up When Sanatan Dharma Was Insulted': Ex-Spokesperson Rohan Gupta Joins BJP
Former Congress spokesperson Rohan Gupta on Thursday joined the BJP ahead of the Lok Sabha polls.
Weeks after quitting the Congress and withdrawing his candidature from the Lok Saba poll fray, former Congress spokerson in Gujarat, Rohan Gupta, on Thursday joined the BJP and trained his guns on the grand old party as he raised the issue of Sanatan Dharma and the remarks made by some I.N.D.I.A bloc leaders.
After joing the BJP, he said, "How many contradictions can be there? There is a communication in charge who has 'Ram' in his name, he told us to keep quiet when Sanatan (Dharma) was being insulted...An alliance using the country's name was made but 'desh virodhi takatein' were included in it. What is the compulsion that Kejriwal who was accused of being connected with Khalistanis today is being supported by them?"
He added, "For 60 years, people of this country blessed Congress because of nationalism, respect for Sanatana and industrialisation. The party has now been given to arrogant people for the last 2 years... If we are a spokesperson and we are told to keep quiet when the Sanatana is disrespected, do you think that will sell in front of the people? You have formed an alliance with Arvind Kejriwal whom you have accused of being with Khalistan and corruption. How will you go and ask for votes for him?... Why should the workers of Congress suffer because of your lust for power?... Respect for Sanatana has been converted into leftist. We felt suffocated... The core values of the country are disrespected... The party can not maintain the self-respect of the people like me who have served the party for 15 years... So with a broken heart and a clean shirt, I have joined the BJP today."
Last month, sharing a copy of the resignation letter on X, he said, “I am deeply pained to inform you that constant humiliation and character assassination by one of the senior leaders connected to the Communications department of the party for last two years (which many senior party leaders are aware of) and now at the time of personal crisis has compelled me to take this decision.” “His behaviour has caused serious mental agony and stress and has compelled me to resign from the party with a broken heart to protect my self-esteem," he added.
