Rajasthan Congress Leaders Jyoti Mirdha, Sawai Singh Chaudhary Join BJP Ahead Of Assembly Polls

Ahead of the assembly elections in Rajasthan, Congress leaders Jyoti Mirdha and Sawai Singh Chaudhary joined the BJP on Monday.

The Congress suffered a major blow in Rajasthan as leaders Jyoti Mirdha and Sawai Singh Chaudhary joined the BJP on Monday, ahead of assembly polls due this year. The leaders joined the saffon party in the presence of Rajasthan BJP state president CP Joshi in Delhi. This comes after sacked Rajasthan minister and BSP-turned-Congress MLA Rajendra Singh Gudha joined Shiv Sena on Saturday.

With the elections approaching, the BJP has now roped in Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma and his Uttarakhand counterpart Pushkar Singh Dhami to address the Parivartan rallies in Rajasthan, which according to party leaders, signal a forthcoming change in power post Assembly polls.

The BJP is pooling in all its resources to make the Parivartan yatras, which have been flagged in four divisions, a resounding success. While Congress has the task of retaining Rajasthan, the saffron party is eyeing to wrest it from the Ashok Gehlot-led government.

PM Modi Strikes Deals For Industrialist Friends: Priyanka Gandhi In Rajasthan

Addressing a rally in poll-bound Rajasthan, Congress general secretary Priyanka Gandhi on Sunday trained guns on the Bharatiya Janata Party. She said that while the Gehlot government in Rajasthan focused on the people's progress, the BJP made policies only for the rich.

"Ashok Gehlot government has only focussed on the progress of the people. On the other hand, BJP's policies are only for the rich, they do not have anything for the poor and middle class," she said. She alleged that PM Modi goes abroad and strikes deals for his “industrialist friends”, adding that BJP's policies are for the rich, and not the poor.

Rajasthan CM Ashok Gehlot, who was also present at the event, said, "We are giving pensions to the poor people in the state. It seems people have now made up their mind to repeat the (Congress) government."

The 200-member Rajasthan Assembly is slated to undergo polls this year along with Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Telangana, and Mizoram.
