Rajasthan Poll Results: BJP's Vasundhara Raje Reaches Out To Independents Overnight

Bharatiya Janata Party leader Vasundhara Raje is believed to have been in touch with some Independent candidates overnight ahead of counting of votes in Rajasthan.

Bharatiya Janata Party heavyweight in Rajasthan and former Chief Minister Vasundhara Raje kept in contact with some Independent candidates overnight ahead of counting of votes in Rajasthan, as per ABP News sources. The counting of votes began for the votes polled in Rajasthan on November 25 at 8 am. 

Momentum picked up in Congress as well as the observers for the state, Bhupender Singh Hooda, Mukul Wasnik, and Shakil Khan arrived in Jaipur for a legislture party meeting. The party also directed its winning candidates to reach Jaipur after the poll verdict. 

As per the early trends, BJP maintained a surge leaving the ruling Congress behind. 

Voting was held on 199 seats on November 25 in the state with a voter turnout of 68.24 per cent sealing the fate 1,863 candidates in the fray. The state has 5.26 crore registered voters. 

Raje is contesting the polls from Jhalarpatan seat while other important candidates in the fray include

Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot (Sardarpura), his former Deputy Sachin Pilot (Tonk), and Leader of Opposition in the Rajasthan Legislative Assembly Rajendra Rathod (Taranagar).

Stakes of several BJP MPs are also at stake including: MP Diya Kumari contested from Jaipur's Vidyadhar Nagar; Baba Balaknath from Alwar's Tijara; former Union Minister and MP Rajyavardhan Singh Rathore from Jaipur's Jhotwara; MP (Ajmer) Bhagirath Chaudhary from Ajmer's Kishangarh; MP Devji Patel from Sanchore, Narendra Khinchar from Mandawa of Jhunjhunu and Rajya Sabha member Kirodilal Meena entered the fray from Sawai Madhopur seat.  

The counting of votes on Sunday began amid tight security at 36 counting centres across the state. Two counting centres were set up in Jaipur, Jodhpur, and Nagaur besides one each in 30 election districts. 

The counting is being simultaneously held for the votes to the legislative assemblies of Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, and Telangana, along with Rajasthan while for Mizoram, the votes will be counted on Monday, December 4.
