The Returning Officer (RO) provided them with goggles to maintain the secrecy of the vote, reported ANI. A video was also taken during this process. They voted at polling booth number 101.

New Delhi: In a unique case, the conjoined twins from Amritsar today cast their votes in the Punjab assembly election.

According to news agency ANI, the twins are named Sohna and Mohna. They cast their vote in the Manwal area of Amritsar district today. They are counted as two different voters.

The Returning Officer (RO) provided them with goggles to maintain the secrecy of the vote, reported ANI. A video was also taken during this process. They voted at polling booth number 101.

“It is a very unique case. They are conjoined but two separate voters. They are icons of PWD voters. Arrangements were made by the RO of giving them goggles so that the secrecy of voting is maintained,” PRO Gaurav Kumar told ANI.

According to a report by NDTV, Sohna and Mohna work in the Punjab State Power Corporation Limited (PSPCL).

As per the same report, 19-year-old Sohna got the job in December 2021, and Mohna works along with him in managing electrical appliances at the PSPCL.

The twins were born in 2003 with a shared liver, gall bladder, and legs. After being abandoned by their parents, they were admitted to AIIMS Delhi where the doctors decided against separating them as it could have fatal consequences.

Punjab is undergoing polls today for 117 assembly constituencies in a single phase. The 2.14 crore population of Punjab will decide the fate of 1304 candidates today. The results of the Punjab assembly elections will be announced on March 10, 2022.
