PM Modi To Visit Jammu Today, Will Launch Development Projects Worth Over Rs 30,000 Cr

PM Modi will launch the Valley's first electric train as well as rail service between Sangaldan and Baramulla stations.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will visit Jammu on Tuesday to inaugurate various development projects worth over Rs 32,000 crore in education, railway, aviation, and road sectors, news agency PTI reported. He will also present appointment letters to about 1,500 newly recruited government officials in Jammu and Kashmir, as well as meet with beneficiaries of different initiatives as part of the 'Viksit Bharat, Viksit Jammu' campaign, according to a statement issue by the Prime Minister's Office (PMO).

Modi will launch several railway projects, including the 48-kilometer line connecting Banihal-Khari-Sumber-Sangaldan and the recently electrified Baramulla-Srinagar-Banihal-Sangaldan stretch (185.66 km).

According to the statement, he would launch the Valley's first electric train as well as rail service between Sangaldan and Baramulla stations.

The commissioning of the Banihal-Khari-Sumber-Sangaldan stretch is notable since it uses ballast less track (BLT) across the route, offering passengers with a superior travel experience, according to the statement.

T-50 (12.77 km) is India's longest transportation tunnel, located between Khari and Sumber. The railway projects will increase connectivity, ensure environmental sustainability, and accelerate the region's economic growth.

According to the statement, Modi will inaugurate and lay the groundwork for multiple projects costing around Rs 13,375 crore, marking a huge step toward improving and growing education and skilling infrastructure across the country.

The projects include permanent campuses for IIT Bhilai, IIT Tirupati, IIT Jammu, IIITDM Kancheepuram, Indian Institute of Skills (IIS), a pioneer skill training institute for advanced technologies based in Kanpur, and Central Sanskrit University campuses in Devprayag (Uttarakhand) and Agartala (Tripura).

As part of his government's efforts to deliver comprehensive, quality, and holistic tertiary-care health services to the people of Jammu and Kashmir, the prime minister will open the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) at Vijaypur (Samba), Jammu.

He lay the foundation stone for the institute in February 2019, which is being constructed under the national government's 'Pradhan Mantri Swasthya Suraksha Yojana'.

The hospital, built at a cost of over Rs 1,660 crore and spanning 227 acres, has 720 beds, a medical college with 125 seats, a nursing college with 60 seats, an AYUSH block with 30 beds, residential accommodation for faculty and staff, hostel accommodation for UG and PG students, and a shopping complex, among other facilities.
