'I Am Not Being Able To Work': Netaji's Grandnephew Chandra Kumar Bose Quits BJP Ahead Of 2024 Polls
Resigning from the BJP ahead of the Lok Sabha elections, Chandra Kumar Bose said none of his proposals were being implemented by the party’s state and central leadership.
New Delhi: Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose's grandnephew Chandra Kumar Bose resigned from the BJP citing differences and stated that he was “not being able to work”, news agency ANI reported. Resigning from the party ahead of the Lok Sabha elections, Bose said none of his proposals were being implemented by the party’s state and central leadership.
“My own ardent promotional efforts to achieve these laudable objectives have not received any support from the BJP, either at the Centre or at the state level in West Bengal. I had put forward a detailed proposal suggesting a Bengal strategy to reach out to the people of Bengal. My proposals were ignored. Given these unfortunate circumstances, it has become impossible for me to continue in all conscience as a member of the BJP,” Bose’s resignation letter stated.
Speaking to ANI on his inspiration behind joining the BJP, why he had been a part of the saffron party till date and why he chose to resign, Bose said, “In 2016, I had contributed to the BJP. I was inspired by the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. My principles are in line with my grandfather Sarath Chandra Bose and his younger brother Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose. Their ideology was based on the principle that they saw every religion as Indian. They fought against the politics of division and communalism.”

“I gave many proposals to the state and central leadership in BJP regarding the strategy in West Bengal. But, they never implemented my proposals even when they thought it was useful. When none of my proposals are accepted, then it doesn't make sense to be a part of this party. I am not being able to work. I clarified it to (BJP national president) JP Nadda as well. My good wishes are with the party. But they should work on uniting all communities,” Bose told the news agency.
Notably, Chandra Kumar Bose had joined BJP in 2016 and contested election twice on BJP ticket - in 2016 Bengal Assembly and the 2019 Lok Sabha polls. He was appointed the West Bengal BJP vice-president in 2016, but was dropped from it during the organisational rejig in 2020.
