'Declared Them As OBCs Overnight In Karnataka': PM Modi Says Congress Wants To Give Reservations To Muslims
PM Modi also attacked the Congress saying that the party wants to implement the same formula in the entire country and wants to change the Constitution.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday attacked the Congress for giving OBC reservations to Muslims in Karnataka and said that the Constitution doesn't allow reservation based on caste.
Speaking at a poll rally in Maharashtra's Satara, the prime minister said, "What they are doing in Karnataka, I have come in Chattrapati Shivaji's land to awaken you. The Indian Constitution rejects reservation based on caste... But what have they done? In Karnataka, they declared all Muslims OBCs overnight and gave them the 27 percent OBC reservation."
He also attacked the Congress saying that the party wants to implement the same formula in the entire country and wants to change the Constitution.

"Now the Congress wants to change the Constitution and implement his formula across the nation. Till Modi is alive and I have people's blessings with me, your (Congress) attempt to make reservations based on religion and attempt to change the constitution won't succeed," PM Modi said.
Prime Minister Modi reiterated this issue earlier on Monday in Karnataka where he accused the Congress of planning religion-based reservation in the country for the sake of vote bank politics, but asserted that he will not let it happen. He said this Congress proposal is to appease minorities as the SC/ST and OBC community is now with the BJP.
The BJP and the Congress have been sparring over the issue.
The Congress, meanwhile, alleged that the BJP wants more than 400 seats so that they can amend the Constitution and fulfil the decades-long conspiracy of the RSS to abolish reservation.
The grand old party said this is the first time that a political party's goal is not only to win an election but also to secure more than 400 seats.
Congress general secretary Jairam Ramesh on Monday shared media reports on RSS-BJP leaders' remarks in the last few years on ending reservation and alleged that they have been trying to do away with the quota in education and jobs for the Scheduled Castes (SCs), Scheduled Tribes (STs) and Other Backward Classes (OBC). RSS-BJP have been opposing reservation for 100 years.
