The Congress party has released a list of 39 candidates for the upcoming Mizoram elections. The list includes the name of Mizoram Congress chief Lalsawta who has been given a ticket from Aizawl West-III. The announcement comes on the day when party leader Rahul Gandhi has arrived in the state on a two-day visit to campaign for party candidates.
The polls in the northeastern state will be held in a single phase on November 7 while votes will be counted on December 3 along with Chhattisgarh, Madhya Pradesh, Telangana, and Rajasthan.
While Mizoram Congress Committee chief Lalsawta was fielded from Aizawl West-III (ST), Lalnunmawia Chuaungo has been nominated from Aizawl North-I (ST).

Other party leaders Lalrindika Ralte ha been given a ticket from Hachhek (ST), Lalhmingthanga Sailo from Dampa (ST) and Lalrinmawia from Aizawl North-II.
On Monday, Congress MP Rahul Gandhi arrived in poll-bound Mizoram after a short visit to Tripura.
"Rahul Gandhi today arrived here by a charted flight from Delhi. After a brief meeting with party leaders at the airport lounge, he left for Aizwal for the election campaign in Mizoram", Congress Working Committee (CWC) member Sudip Roy Barman told reporters in Agartala.
"Rahul ji had a brief meeting with party leaders and wanted to know the condition of people in Tripura. He also gave suggestions on organizational matters. Gandhi will visit the state after completion of Assembly elections in five states - Madhya Pradesh, Mizoram, Telangana, Chhattisgarh and Rajasthan", he said.
In Aizawl, the Congress leader undertook a padyatra as massive crowds greeted him.
After reaching the capital of poll-bound Mizoram, he began the march from Chanmari junction and walked through the winding roads of the city amid Congress supporters waving party flags.
Gandhi waved at people on both the sides, shook hands, and interacted with those coming to meet him.
He is scheduled to walk till Raj Bhavan, covering a distance of around 4-5 km after which he would address a rally near the governor's house.
