Domestic LPG Gets Rs 100 Price-Cut On Women's Day As PM Modi Highlights Centre's 'Nari Shakti' Focus

The price of domestic LPG cylinders has been slashed by Rupees 100, announced PM Narendra Modi.

The Central government on Friday slashed the prices of LPG cylinders by Rs 100 in a major decision ahead of the upcoming Lok Sabha elections. Announcing the decision on social media platform X, Prime Minister Narendra Modi branded it as a gift in Women's Day saying the move will ease the financial burden on millions of households across the country, "especially benefiting our Nari Shakti. "

"Today, on Women's Day, our Government has decided to reduce LPG cylinder prices by Rs. 100. This will significantly ease the financial burden on millions of households across the country, especially benefiting our Nari Shakti," Modi said in his social media post.

"By making cooking gas more affordable, we also aim to support the well-being of families and ensure a healthier environment. This is in line with our commitment to empowering women and ensuring ‘Ease of Living’ for them," he added.

The development comes a day after the government announced the extension of the Rs 300 per LPG cylinder subsidy to impoverished women under the Ujjwala Yojana for the next fiscal year beginning April 1.

Last year in August, the Modi government had announced a cut in the prices of domestic LPG cylinders by Rs 200.

The decision was termed as gift to the "sisters" of the country on Raksha Bandhan so as to make the lives of the women in the country comfortable.

The Opposition had back then called out the move a "political gimmick".
