As Congress Sends Out Feelers To TDP Amid Close Fight, PM Modi Reaches Out To Chandrababu Naidu
Lok Sabha Results: Congress and BJP are making their moves to woo TDP's Chandrababu Naidu whose party had lead on 16 seats till the latest updates came in.
After the Congress was reported to be in touch with NDA partner in Andhra Pradesh, the TDP, Prime Minister Narendra Modi quickly dialled his ally Chandrababu Naidu, said ABP News sources. The reported parleys come amid the intense Lok Sabha results battle that is moving towards a close finish. Union Home Minister Amit Shah, too, called Chandrababu Naidu. Sources said that Chandrababu Naidu has been offered the role of the National Democratic Alliance convener.
Chandrababu Naidu's role as kingmaker is almost certain now with both Congress and BJP trying to woo him. Till the last updates came in, TDP was leading on 16 seats. Tamil Nadu CM and Congress's partner in the INDIA bloc MK Stalin has also reached out to Chandrababu Naidu to seek his support, sources told ABP News.
INDIA Reaches Out To JD-U
INDIA partners Congress and NCP (Sharad Pawar) also reached out to Nitish Kumar's JD(U) to seek his support. The NDA in Bihar was leading on 34 seats while the INDIA alliance was trudging behind with a paltry lead on 4 seats at 2 PM. However, soon after that, JD(U) spokesperson said that the Bihar CM Nitish Kumar-led JD(U) will not flip again and stick to the BJP-led NDA this time. However, going by JD-U's history and the fact that Nitish Kumar was the one who floated the idea of the "united Opposition". Moreover, after the INDIA bloc did not agree to the JD-U's demand for a plum post for Nitish Kumar the Bihar CM stepped out of the coalition.
According to ABP News sources, Bihar Deputy CM and BJP state president Samrat Chaudhary, along with Rajya Sabha MP Sanjay Jha and state minister Vijay Chaudhary, went to Nitish Kukmar's office. However, they couldn't meet the CM as Kumar was out for lunch. Samrat Cahaudhary could now go to the Bihar CM's residence.
