Lok Sabha Polls: Kerala CM Warns Against Dubious Associations Amid Alleged CPI(M) Veteran's Plan To Join BJP

Two days ago, BJP's Shobha alleged that a middleman attempted to assist a prominent CPI(M) leader in joining the BJP. On Thursday, she identified the leader as E P Jayarajan.

After BJP leader Sobha Surendran's allegations regarding an alleged attempt to bring Jayarajan into the BJP, Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan advised party members to stay vigilant in their associations. However, BJP leader's accusations still sent shock waves to the Left on the day of polls on Friday.

In a vernacular language, Vijayan indirectly cautioned Jayarajan, "If Lord Shiva joins a sinner, Shiva will also become a sinner."

Jayarajan is also the convenor of ruling Left Democratic Front (UDF).

Two days ago, Shobha alleged that a middleman attempted to assist a prominent CPI(M) leader in joining the BJP. On Thursday, she identified the leader as E P Jayarajan.

Addressing reporters in Kannur, the CM criticized individuals who "wake up every day thinking about whom to cheat," without specifically naming T G Nandakumar, accused of acting as a middleman between the BJP and Jayarajan. He advised against forming friendships or associations with such individuals.

Vijayan noted that Jayarajan, known for maintaining positive relations with others, was typically not cautious in such situations.

The Left veteran criticized the involvement of individuals with dubious backgrounds, indirectly referring to Nandakumar, known as "Dallal" in state political circles. He highlighted the connection of such individuals with the Lavlin case, which has been a longstanding legal battle.

Vijayan stressed that it was unacceptable to form friendships or acquaintances with such individuals. Regarding media reports suggesting Jayarajan's admission to meeting BJP leader Prakash Javadekar, Vijayan stated that such meetings were not inherently wrong. He mentioned his own recent conversation with Javadekar ahead of the LS polls.

Leader of Opposition in the state Assembly, V D Satheesan, raised concerns about CM Vijayan's statement regarding the meeting between Jayarajan and Javadekar, questioning its appropriateness.
