Kerala Lok Sabha Contest

Kerala boasts 20 constituencies, ranking 12th in terms of the number of electoral constituencies it comprises. Among these, Alathur and Mavelikara are reserved for Scheduled Caste (SC) candidates.

Key players in the electoral arena include the United Democratic Front, spearheaded by the Indian National Congress; the Left Democratic Front, comprising constituents like CPI(M), CPI, and Kerala Congress (M); and the National Democratic Alliance, represented by BJP and Bharath Dharma Jana Sena.

Historically, Kerala has experienced predominantly bi-polar contests. However, the BJP is now attempting to break into the strongholds of the UDF and LDF in the region.

Notably, Congress, CPI, and CPI(M) are alliance partners within the I.N.D.I.A bloc, yet they remain opponents in Kerala. The Left and Congress have engaged in several intense battles across many constituency in the state.

Notably, Kerala hosts the key constituency of Wayanad, from where Congress leader Rahul Gandhi is vying for reelection. His opponents in this race include CPI's Annie Raja and BJP's K Surendran.

In Thiruvananthapuram, a high-profile contest is anticipated between Congress candidate Shashi Tharoor and BJP candidate Rajeev Chandrasekhar, the outgoing Minister of State for the Ministry of Electronics and IT, the Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship, and the Ministry of Jal Shakti.

In the previous Lok Sabha elections held in 2019, CPI(M) secured one seat, INC clinched 15, Revolutionary Socialist Party claimed one, Kerala Congress (M) earned one, and IUML emerged victorious in two constituencies.
