'Agenda Of Polarisation': Jairam Ramesh Slams PM Modi Over Wealth Redistribution Remark

Congress leader Jairam Ramesh alleged that the reality behind BJP's '400 paar' slogan is to change the constitution.

Congress leader Jairam Ramesh slammed Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday over the latters remark who said that the Congress has promised in its manifesto that it will redistribute the country's wealth among Muslims. Junking the claim, Ramesh said that the party had always want to empower the weak sections of the society.

"This is PM Narendra Modi's agenda of polarisation. We have always said that we want to empower the weak sections of society like SCs, STs, OBCs, minorities, and women. We want rapid economic development in the country and the benefits of it to reach everyone," said the Congress leader.

"It shouldn't be that the beneficiaries are mere 20-21 billionaires of the country and the price is paid by crores of people," he added.

Taking a swipe at BJP's target of more than 400 seats in the upcoming Lok Sabha polls, Jairam said, "The reality behind their slogan of '400 paar' is that they want to change the constitution... They are against reservation. They want to remove this constitution, and RSS has always been against reservation."

"The census was supposed to be conducted in 2021, but till now it hasn't been done because a census would have revealed the population of SCs and STs. Our constitution offers reservations based on population. We have no hidden agenda. Our agenda is clearly written in our manifesto...," he added.

Meanwhile, the Bharatiya Janata Party maintained its stance with Uttar Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister Keshav Prasad Maurya saying that the rights of SC, ST and OBC are being robbed by Congress and INDI alliance.

"The way in which OBC's reservation has been peeled off and given to Muslims is an attempt to rob the rights of OBCs. BJP has always supported 'Sabka Sath Sabka Vikas'," Maurya said.
