'Humiliated': Former MLAs Naseeb Singh, Neeraj Basoya Quit Congress Over Party's Alliance With AAP In Delhi

Former MLA Naseeb Singh said expressed his disappointment over the alliance between Congress and AAP saying the latter emerged based on malafide propaganda against the grand old party.

Former Congress MLAs Neeraj Basoya and Naseeb Singh resigned from the primary membership of the party on Wednesday in a jolt to the grand old party amid the Lok Sabha polls. In a letter addressed to Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge, Naaeeb Singh expressed his disappointment over the appointment of Davinder Yadav as the party's Delhi unit chief.

Following his resignation, Singh said, "Aam Aadmi Party, which ended the Congress and talked about putting Sheila Dikshit in jail, today our party is sitting in the lap of the same party. The one who talked about putting Sheila Dikshit in jail is now in jail themselves..."

Singh, who was appointed as party observer for the North West Parliamentary seat, also criticised the party for allying with the Aam Aadmi Party that had come into existence on the foundation of opposing the Congress-led UP government in 2012-2013.

"Today You have appointed Davinder Yadav as DPCC Chief. He as AICC (In-Charge Punjab) has run a campaign in Punjab solely based on attacking Arvind Keiriwal's false agenda and today, in Delhi he will be mandated to praise and support AAP and its Chief Arvind Kejriwal," the letter read.

He further said: "In 2012-2013, the AAP emerged based on false publicity and malafide propaganda against the Congress in the city. In doing so, the AAP on a daily basis, abused our leadership and claimed that they have been involved in corruption. As widely publicised, the AAP asked for the Late Smt Sheila Dixit and Sonia Gandhi Ji to be arrested and put behind bars."

Singh said that while the AAP has failed to prove any allegations against the Congress party, the party has itself become deeply involved in corrupt activities. He also alleged that the Arvind Kejriwal-led party has scrapped various initiatives of the Sheila Dikshit government including the Bhagidari scheme and old age pension scheme.

The former MLA said that he has opposed the alliance since the day it was formed, but the high command, "in total disregard of my opinion and the views of other Delhi Congress leaders, decided to ally with the AAP."
