Ahead Of Lok Sabha Elections, PM Modi Talks About Article 370, Left-Wing Extremism In Open Letter On Governance

PM Modi is aiming for a third term in office and has set a goal of securing over 400 seats for the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and its allies.

On the eve of the announcement of the Lok Sabha election schedule, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday requested ideas, suggestions, and support from the public to achieve the goal of constructing a developed India. In an open letter to the citizens, whom he addressed as "my dear family member," in line with the BJP’s “Modi Ka Parivaar” (Modi’s family) narrative, the Prime Minister wrote: “Our partnership is at the threshold of completing a decade. The trust and support of 140 crore Indians inspires and motivates me.” The letter was sent by the centre to citizens over Whatsapp channel "Viksit Bharat Sankalp"

The Prime Minister is aiming for a third term in office and has set a goal of securing over 400 seats for the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and its allies. The government's agenda for development and the pledge of achieving a Developed India by 2047 are significant campaign points for the BJP.

“I need and indeed, look forward to your ideas, suggestions and support as we work to fulfil the resolve of building a Viksit Bharat. I am confident that we will continue to take our nation to great heights together,” PM Modi wrote. 

The Viksit Bharat agenda is a vision formulated by the Prime Minister to bring about "social changes, technical innovations, and economic reforms, to elevate India’s standing on the global stage".

He has attributed the transformation in people's lives to government schemes and programmes, referring to it as "the most significant achievement of our government over the past decade."

"It is a measure of your trust and support that we could take several historic and major decisions like implementation of GST, abrogation of Article 370, new law on Triple Talaq, Nari Shakti Vandan Act to enhance women’s participation in Parliament, the inauguration of new Parliament building and strong steps against terrorism and Left-Wing Extremism,” he wrote.

“The beauty of democracy lies in Janbhagidari or public participation. It is your support that gives me the immense strength to take bold decisions for the nation’s welfare, draw up aspirational plans and implement them smoothly,” the letter said, seeking suggestions to fulfil the resolve of building a Viksit Bharat.
