The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) released its second list of candidates for the upcoming Karnataka Assembly elections on Wednesday. The new list again denied tickets to some sitting MLAs creating discontent among them and prompting several senior leaders to tender their resignation to the party.

Here are some of the popular names who have resigned from the party after being denied ticket for the assembly elections in Karnataka.

Laxman Savadi

Former Deputy Chief Minister Laxman Savadi on Wednesday announced his decision to resign as a Legislative Council member and from the primary membership of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), a day after the ruling party denied him a ticket to contest in the upcoming Karnataka Assembly elections.

While making the announcement, Savadi said that he was not the one to go around with a begging bowl, adding that he is a self-respecting politician.

"I have made my decision. I am not the one who goes around with a begging bowl. I am a self-respecting politician. I am not acting under the influence of anyone," said the former deputy chief minister, as reported by ANI.

S Angara

Karnataka's Minister for Fisheries and six-time MLA S Angara also announced his retirement from the party on Wednesday after he was denied a ticket by BJP for the upcoming state assembly elections TO be held on May 10. Angara, who is a minister from Dakshina Kannada's Sullia constituency said that it was not the way to treat an MLA who worked for the party with such dedication, reported PTI.

M P Kumaraswamy

After being denied a ticket to contest the Karnataka Assembly polls, Mudigere BJP MLA M P Kumaraswamy on Thursday announced his resignation from the party and blamed national General Secretary CT Ravi for not getting nominated. The three-time MLA said he will also be submitting his resignation as legislator to the Assembly Speaker soon, reported PTI.

R Shankar

After the ruling BJP ignored his request for a ticket to contest in the May 10 Assembly elections, BJP MLC R Shankar resigned  from the legislative council on Wednesday. Shankar went to Karnataka Legislative Council chairman Basavaraj Horatti's office and tendered his hand-written resignation.
