Karnataka Polls: Independent Candidate Pays Rs 10,000 Deposit Money In 1 Rupee Coins—Watch

Independent candidate Yankappa paid his deposit money of Rs 10,000 entirely in one rupee coins while filing nomination for Karnataka elections. He will contest from the state's Yadgir constituency.

An independent candidate Yankappa paid his deposit money of Rs 10,000 entirely in one rupee coins while filing his nomination in Assembly elections from Karnataka's Yadgir constituency. He collected the coins from people across the constituency, to contest the Karnataka elections on May 10.

"I will dedicate my life to the people of my community and villagers. I came to the returning officer with posters of Swami Vivekananda's ideologies written on them," says Yankappa, as quoted by the news agency ANI. The state will go to polls on May 10 and the votes will be counted on May 13.  The term of the current Karnataka Legislative Assembly would end on May 24, 2023.

The Congress party on Tuesday released the fourth list of 7 candidates for the upcoming for Karnataka Assembly elections. Jagdish Shettar, former Karnataka CM received a ticket from Hubli-Dharwad-Central.

Last week on Saturday, the Congress party released the third list of 43 candidates for the upcoming elections. The party has fielded former deputy CM of the state Laxman Savadi from the Athani constituency. Kolar seat has been given to Kothur G Manjunath. This comes a day after Congress lashed out at the BJP accusing the party of not treating its leaders in the right way. While talking to the media, former Karnataka CM Siddaramaiah said that BJP should not have treated Savadi like this by denying him a ticket at all despite the fact that he's a senior leader in the party.

BJP's Arvind Chauhan, Kalaburagi District Yuva Morcha General Secretary, and former Zilla Panchayat member, has resigned from the Bharatiya Janata Party on Tuesday after he was denied a ticket from the Chittapur assembly constituency for the May 10 state assembly election. Instead, BJP fielded Manikanta Rathod from the Chittapur constituency. Priyank M. Kharge from Congress is the sitting MLA from the Chittapur constituency.
