Haryana Elections: Three BJP, Two Congress Candidates In Gurugram Never Attended College

BJP's Mukesh Sharma, contesting from Gurugram, is a 12th-grade pass, while Tejpal Tanwar, standing in Sohna, has only completed 10th standard.

Three BJP candidates in the Sohna and Pataudi Assembly constituencies of Gurugram have never attended college, as per their nomination affidavits. Additionally, two Congress candidates from Sohna and Badshahpur also lack a college education.

According to a report in IANS, a total of 47 candidates are contesting for four Assembly seats in Gurugram, after the withdrawal of 15 nominations on Monday.

BJP candidate Mukesh Sharma, running for Gurugram, has finished 12th standard. BJP's Tejpal Tanwar, standing in Sohna, has only completed 10th grade, and Bimla Chaudhary, from Pataudi, has also only finished her secondary education through an open school. These three candidates have never made it to college.

Similarly, Congress candidate Vardhan Yadav from Badshahpur has a 12th-grade education from DPS School, and Rohtash Khatna has completed only up to 9th grade from a government school in Rithoj village.

Residents' Concern Over Candidates' Educational Backgrounds

Residents have voiced concerns over the candidates' educational backgrounds. Umang Narang, a local, commented, "Education is important in life no doubt. BJP and Congress have fielded candidates who have never been to college and studied only up to school level which is quite shocking. Gurgaon district is much more developed than other districts in Haryana and educated candidates should represent Assembly constituencies. "

"Gurugram district needs candidates who have some vision. The lack of educated candidates means there is no vision for the development of the district. The district is struggling for a good candidate who can deliver at least basic facilities. The entire district is grappling with a poor drainage system resulting huge water mess during rains. One should vote for an educated candidate," Anil Chug, another resident said.

The elections in Haryana are going to be held in a single phase across 90 constituencies on October 5, and the results will be announced on October 8.
