Election Results 2022: Time To Reform Organisational Leadership, Says Tharoor On Cong Poor Performance
Tharoor was a part of ‘G-23’ that wrote to Congress president Sonia Gandhi in August 2020, seeking clarity on party leadership.
New Delhi: After the Congress’s dismal performance in the Assembly Elections in five states, the results of which were announced on Thursday, senior party leader Shashi Tharoor batted for reforming the organisational leadership to ‘reignite’ the idea of India.
Taking to his Twitter handle, Tharoor wrote, “All of us who believe in @INCIndia are hurting from the results of the recent assembly elections. It is time to reaffirm the idea of India that the Congress has stood for and the positive agenda it offers the nation… And to reform our organisational leadership in a manner that will reignite those ideas and inspire the people. One thing is clear - Change is unavoidable if we need to succeed.”

It is time to reaffirm the idea of India that the Congress has stood for and the positive agenda it offers the nation — and (contd)
Tharoor was a part of ‘G-23’ that wrote to Congress president Sonia Gandhi in August 2020, seeking clarity on party leadership.
Before him, Congress leader Jaiveer Shergill had posted, "Loss is a Loss there is no justification to it -let's not sugarcoat it with dialogues like 'vote share', 'lost by small margins' etc etc - Accepting the verdict with humility & Acknowledging failure without any if's & but's is first step to reform."
Notably, Congress scored very poorly in the assembly polls to Uttar Pradesh, Goa, Uttarakhand, Manipur, and also lost Punjab, one of the few states that it held, to a relatively new party, AAP, that was only restricted to Delhi till date.
Taking to his Twitter handle after the electoral mandate, senior leader Rahul Gandhi wrote, “Humbly accept the people's verdict. Best wishes to those who have won the mandate. My gratitude to all Congress workers and volunteers for their hard work and dedication. We will learn from this and keep working for the interests of the people of India.”
