Delhi Elections: Exit Poll Predictions Show BJP Taking Lead In Delhi, AAP Trailing In Tight Contest

The Matrize Exit Poll showed the BJP on the lead with 35-40 seats, with the Aam Aadmi Party getting 32-37 seats and Congress getting 0-1 seat.

The exit poll predictions on Wednesday showed the BJP leading in Delhi Assembly Elections, with the ruling Aam Aadmi Party trailing behind the saffron party in a tight contest.

Delhi recorded 60.10 per cent voter turnout in the assembly polls on Wednesday amid charges of malpractices including money distribution and fake voting by both AAP and BJP. 

The post-poll predictions came shortly after the voting concluded across 70 assembly seats in Delhi. A majority of the exit polls on Wednesday evening showed the BJP forming a government in the national capital.

The Matrize Exit Poll showed the BJP on the lead with 35-40 seats, with the Aam Aadmi Party getting 32-37 seats and Congress getting 0-1 seat. The Chanakya Strategies survey showed the BJP crossing the halfway mark with 39-44 seats, AAP getting 25-28 seats and Congress getting 2-3 seats.

Exit poll figures for the Delhi Assembly elections have been released after voting. The Poll Diary also gave a clear win to the BJP against AAP in the national capital. The BJP is expected to get 42-50 seats, AAP 18-25 seats and Congress 0-2. The DV Research showed Kejriwal's Aam Aadmi Party getting 26-34, BJP getting 36-44 seats and Congress to get zero seats.

While a majority of pollsters showed BJP winning around 40 seats, the People’s Pulse survey gave 51-60 seats to BJP, 10-18 seats to AAP and 0-1 seat to Congress.

Arvind Kejriwal-led AAP, however, rejected the predictions by exit poll agencies.

"This is our fourth election, and every time exit polls did not show AAP forming the government in Delhi. Arvind Kejriwal has worked for the people of Delhi. We will see the results in favour of the Aam Aadmi Party and we will form the government," AAP leader Sushil Gupta told ANI.

The polling, which began at 7 am, concluded at 13,766 stations across Delhi's 70 constituencies to decide the fate of 699 candidates. The election results will be declared on February 8. In the 2020 assembly elections, the Arvind Kejriwal-led party won 62 seat of the 70 seats, while the BJP got eight and the Congress zero.

A total of 699 candidates are engaged in a keen battle that would decided whether the AAP comes to power in Delhi for a fourth term or the BJP gets a chance to form a government in the national capital after 27 years.
