‘Accepted Defeat’: AAP Slams BJP Over Delhi Poll Promises Of E-buses, Govt Jobs, Shah’s Attack On Kejriwal

AAP's Manish Sisodia said that the BJP has already accepted defeat, and that its manifesto lacked vision. He called BJP's 'Sankalp Patra' as 'Jumala Patra' as he slammed Shah for attacking Kejriwal.

After Amit Shah released the final part of BJP's 'Sankalp Patra' on Saturday, senior Aam Aadmi Party leader Manish Sisodia hit back at the BJP, calling its manifesto a 'jumala patra' and slamming the party for promising just 50,000 jobs to a city which has a population of 2.5 crore people. He also said that the BJP leaders "abuse" Kejriwal, whereas he was the one who created 12 lakh jobs in the national capital at the time of the Covid-19 pandemic.

Sisodia went on to say that the BJP has internally accepted its defeat or else it would have presented a vision for Delhi. He also pointed out at the "kind of language used by Amit Shah" during the press conference to launch the manifesto's final part.

"Delhi has a population of 2.5 crores and you (Amit Shah) talk about providing just 50,000 jobs and that too in return of forming the govt. It means you have no plan. Why Amit Shah is making fun of the people of Delhi? You know that you will not be able to form the govt and that's the reason you are making whatever promises you want," the former Deputy CM of Delhi said.

The BJP, in the final part of its manifesto, promised 50,000 government jobs and creation of employment for 20 lakh youth in Delhi. It also promised 13,000 electric buses and opening of 13,000 sealed shops.

"The kind of language Union Home Minister Amit Shah used and issues he raised in BJP's manifesto during a press conference, shows the party has internally accepted the defeat in Delhi polls. Otherwise, he would have presented a vision for Delhi," he added.

He further commented on BJP's promise to break the seals of shops in the city and claimed that the AAP was stopped by the BJP when it tried to get the seals removed. He further said that the shop owners and traders in the national capital were receiving threats and were living in terror as he pointed out that the BJP should have taken action against this.

"These people are assuming that they are losing. They are talking about breaking the sealing of shops. Who is responsible for the shops being closed for the past several years due to sealing. And when AAP opposed it, BJP people opposed us. When the sealing had to be removed, why did BJP get it done? Delhi traders are getting threats from gangsters, bullets are being fired. Delhi traders are living in terror. Give security, don't give slogans," Sisodia said.

Sisodia also targeted BJP over insurance to lawyers and electric buses in the city, saying that the AAP had already been providing the lawyers insurance and that Delhi already has the maximum number of e-buses.

"They have talked about giving insurance to lawyers, but nobody told them that Kejriwal is already giving insurance to lawyers...You are making a promise to bring E-Buses to Delhi, it means no one briefed you well. Delhi has become the capital of E-Buses - not just for the country but the world. It has the biggest fleet of E-Buses in the world... They (BJP) don't have any issues on which they can contest the election, at least today Amit Shah could have announced their CM and deputy CM's face," he said.

AAP spokesperson Priyanka Kakkar also lashed out at the BJP over its manifesto, slamming the party over de-sealing, law and order in the city, e-buses, and employment promises.

She accused the BJP of not allowing shops to be opened and stressed that the party should have announced something on the law and order of the state amid increased cases of extortion-related firings.

"He ( Amit Shah) talked about de-sealing shops. They are the ones who are not allowing shops to be opened. The ones that have already opened, are seeing firing in front of their shops and they are even receiving extortion calls. He should have announced something on this and also addressed the law and order situation in Delhi," she said.

Furthermore, the AAP leader claimed that Delhi has the lowest unemployment numbers and asked the BJP to provide as many jobs as it wants in the 20 states it has control in. She also said that the city has the highest fleet of 7700 buses, which the AAP has planned to turn electric by 2025 end.

The Delhi Assembly elections will be held in a single phase on February 5 and the counting of votes will be done on February 8.
