Kejriwal Alleges BJP 'Manipulating' Voter Roll In New Delhi Seat Using MPs' Homes, Likens It To 'Booth Capturing'

Delhi Election 2025: Writing to ECI, Arvind Kejriwal has accused the BJP of manipulating the electoral roll in New Delhi.

Delhi Election 2025: Former Delhi chief minister Arvind Kejriwal on Saturday accused the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) of tampering with the electoral roll in the New Delhi constituency ahead of the upcoming elections. In a letter to the Election Commission, Kejriwal alleged that the BJP was adding new voters from across the country by using the official addresses of its Members of Parliament (MPs) and ministers, a practice he termed as worse than "booth capturing."

"The BJP is transferring votes from across the country to the New Delhi Assembly using addresses of its own Members of Parliament (MPs) and Ministers," Kejriwal wrote, as per news agency PTI.

He further alleged that 33 voters had been registered using the official address of BJP's New Delhi candidate, Parvesh Verma. Questioning the legitimacy of the registrations, Kejriwal stated, "Are we expected to believe that overnight 33 people from across India have shifted their residence to that of Mr Verma? If so, then he must be disqualified from contesting elections for indulging in corrupt practices."

Kejriwal also called for criminal FIRs to be registered against those involved in the alleged voter list manipulation and provided a list of BJP leaders and their official addresses. "It is inconceivable how such a high number of voters could have suddenly applied to be transferred to these properties without planning by the highest levels of BJP leadership," he remarked.

'BJP Accepted Defeat': Arvind Kejriwal Alleges New Voters Registered From Ministers And MPs' Homes

Earlier in the day, during a press conference, the AAP chief also cited party MP Sanjay Singh's remarks who accused BJP leaders of dishonesty in electoral processes. Kejriwal alleged, “The revelations made by AAP MP Sanjay Singh are extremely shocking... 20-30 applications for creating new votes were filed in the months of December and January from the residences of cabinet ministers and MPs of the 'Galli-Galoch' party... The BJP has already accepted its defeat and they do not contest elections, they only do dishonesty...”

The BJP is yet to respond to the allegations.
