Delhi Assembly Election 2025: Arvind Kejriwal Dismisses Talks Of AAP-Congress Alliance

The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) has dismissed speculation of an alliance with the Congress for the upcoming Delhi Assembly elections.

The AAP has dismissed speculation of an alliance with the Congress for the Delhi Assembly. Reacting to a "seat-sharing formula" doing the rounds, AAP convener Arvind Kejriwal said that there would be no alliance with the Congress. "The Aam Aadmi Party will be fighting this election on its own strength in Delhi. There is no possibility of any alliance with the Congress," Kejriwal said.

Earlier, there were speculations that the Congress had sought 15 seats as part of an alliance deal for the Delhi Assembly elections. The speculation was sparked by a meeting between Kejriwal and Congress MP Abhishek Manu Singhvi at NCP-SP chief Sharad Pawar's house.

Arvind Kejriwal's clarification is in line with its previous stand of going alone in the Delhi Assembly polls.

Arvind Kejriwal had previously made it clear that his party would not form an alliance with Congress for the Delhi Assembly elections. Similarly, Congress had announced its intention to contest the elections independently. Devender Yadav, the Delhi Pradesh Congress President, had said, “We shall contest all 70 seats in Delhi.”

In a separate development, Arvind Kejriwal on Tuesday announced a series of five guarantees for Delhi’s auto-rickshaw drivers. These promises include a Rs 10 lakh life insurance scheme, Rs 1 lakh assistance for the wedding of a daughter, Rs 2,500 in uniform allowance twice a year for Holi and Diwali, and free coaching for drivers' children to help them prepare for competitive exams.

Kejriwal made the announcement during a meeting with the family of auto driver Navneet in the Kondli constituency, accompanied by his wife, Sunita Kejriwal. The former Delhi Chief Minister stressed his party's dedication to the welfare of auto-rickshaw drivers, highlighting the five guarantees that would be implemented if AAP were re-elected to power.

Additionally, Kejriwal pledged to revive the ‘PoochO’ app, which had been launched by the former Delhi government to improve connectivity between commuters and registered auto-rickshaw drivers. The app, aimed at enhancing last-mile connectivity in the city, will be relaunched under the AAP government’s renewed commitment to transport reforms.
