'Dawood Ibrahim Can Become A BJP MP If...': Congress Slams Saffron Party's 'Washing Machine' Politics

Congress leader Pawan Khera took a pot shot at the BJP and PM Narendra Modi, saying that the 'washing machine' politics of the saffron party can clean even the most 'corrupt' person.

Targetting the BJP over central agencies' inaction on the 'tainted' leaders of the saffron party or its allies, the Congress on Saturday said that even underworld don Dawood Ibrahim would be declared innocent if he joined the BJP. Addressing a press conference, senior Congress leader Pawan Khera took a dig at the BJP, saying the BJP has a washing machine that will clean up even Dawood Ibrahim. "Put him in the BJP washing machine and he may well come out as a Rajya Sabha MP even."

Khera further targeted former Comptroller and Auditor General of India Vinod Rai and said that he was a mere puppet in the hands of the BJP government. "All the CAG reports against various leaders, who were in the Opposition, were fake. We'll definitely go after every officer of these agencies who willingly became a party to undermining our democracy and Constitution. No one will be spared."

The attack on the saffron party comes at a time when the political arena in the nation is heated up over the electoral bond details revelations ahead of the Lok Sabha polls.

The Opposition has been using elaborate theatrics for quite some time to describe how leaders who were previously accused of being corrupt by the BJP got clean chits after joining or allying with the saffron party. Last year, Bengal CM Mamata Banerjee, using a washing machine during a protest on Red Road (Indira Gandhi Sarani) in Central Kolkata, described how leaders were getting clean chits.

On Saturday, too, Khera brought a 'BJP Washing Machine' to the press conference and put a 'tainted' T-shirt in it, with words like 'scam', 'corruption', 'rapist', 'fraud', etc written on it. The T-shirt was put into the washing machine and when it was taken out, it was 'clean'. The 'clean' T-shirt had 'BJP Modi Wash' written on it.

Khera said: "This machine can wash even 10-year-old taints. It has various features like wash, spin, and slow. The wash feature will clean you completely. The spin feature will make even an allegedly corrupt person a patriot. The slow feature will bring investigations against these leaders to a snail's pace."

"This machine doesn't come cheap. It costs Rs 8,552 crore. That's the amount BJP received through electoral bonds," Khera said.
