Congress Releases Candidates List For Punjab And West Bengal Bypolls, Fields Amrita Warring From Gidderbaha
Congress has released its candidates list for the upcoming bypolls in Punjab and West Bengal. It has fielded Punjab Congress chief Amrinder Singh Raja Warring's wife Amrita from Gidderbaha.
Congress on Tuesday announced its candidates for the upcoming bypolls in Punjab and West Bengal. The list was shared after party president Mallikarjun Kharge approved the proposals to nominate the members as party candidates for the bye-elections. Punjab Congress chief Amrinder Singh Raja Warring's wife Amrita has been fielded from Gidderbaha.
In Punjab, Jatinder Kaur has been fielded from Dera Baba Nanak, Amrita Warring from Gidderbaha, Ranjit Kumar from Chabbewal (SC), and Kuldeep Singh Dhillon from Barnala.
The bypolls for four assembly constituencies in Punjab—Chabbewal (SC), Barnala, Dera Baba Nanak, and Gidderbaha—are slated to be held on November 13. The need for these bypolls were triggered after the current MLAs were elected to the Lok Sabha earlier this year. The vote counting will take place on November 23.
Earlier today, the Bharatiya Janata Party also announced its candidates for the Punjab bypolls.It fielded Ravikaran Kahlon from Dera Baba Nanak, Kewal Singh Dhillon from Barnala, and former Punjab Finance Minister Manpreet Badal from the Gidderbaha assembly constituency.

In West Bengal, the Congress has pitted Harihar Roy Singha from Sitai (SC), Bikash Champro Mary from Madarihat (ST), Paresh Nath Sarkar from Naihati, Habib Reza Chowdhury from Naihati, Shyamal Kumar Ghosh from Medinipur, and Tusharkanti Sannigrahi from the Taldangra Assembly seat.

Bypolls for six assembly constituencies in Bengal will be held on Novermber 13. The counting of votes and announcement of results will be done on November 23.
Five of these six seats were won by the Trinamool Congress in the 2021 Assembly elections. The sixth one was won by the BJP.
