Congress Knocks EC's Door Against BJP's Ads On Trains, Bus Stands With PM Modi's Pictures

He mentioned that objections have been raised on this matter with the Election Commission of India, which has already begun taking action against similar issues.

New Delhi: Congress on Thursday complained to the Election Commission against Bharatiya Janata Party's (BJP) advertisements featuring Prime Minister Narendra Modi's picture on trains, petrol pumps, bus stands, and other places for the party's election campaigning for the Lok Sabha elections.

A delegation of Congress leaders comprising Mukul Wasnik, Salman Khurshid, and Supriya Shrinate met the Election Commission.

Salman Khurshid mentioned that objections have been raised on this matter with the Election Commission of India, which has already begun taking action against similar issues.

"We have raised objections over advertisements on trains, petrol pumps, bus stands, etc. with PM Modi's picture as part of their (BJP's) election campaigning. They (Election Commission) have already started taking action against many other such issues," Khurshid said after meeting with the Election Commission of India.

Meanwhile, Congress spokesperson Supriya Shrinate lashed out at Prime Minister Narendra Modi, saying the prime ministers stand with demonic power. She further stated that the country's upcoming elections are between demonic forces and powers.

On Tuesday, the Congress leader hit out at central agencies like the Enforcement Directorate, Central Bureau of Investigation, and Income Tax among others, saying that balance between liberty and accountability is most important for constitutional governance.

"The oppressive investigation regimes will have to be dismantled by a govt committed to liberty without free run to offenders. Balance between liberty and accountability most important for constitutional governance," he posted on X.

With the election season underway, several opposition leaders have accused the BJP government of misusing the central agencies to harass and intimidate the opposition.
