'CM Not Evicted, Given Offer Of 3 Lavish Bungalows': PWD Responds To Atishi's Charges
The PWD said that the residence in question was taken away from Atishi because the 'Sheesh Mahal' is under the scrutiny of the CBI and ED regarding the alleged corruption in its construction.
The Public Works Department (PWD) has responded to Delhi Chief Minister Atishi's allegations that the BJP-led central government had evicted her from her official residence for the second time in three months.
Responding to the CM's allegations, the PWD said that Atishi was not evicted from the CM's residence and an official residence at 17 AB Mathura Road is already allotted to her.
"An official residence 17 AB Mathura Road is already allotted to her (Atishi) and she has again been given an offer of 3 other lavish bungalows," the PWD said in a statement.
The PWD said that the residence in question was taken away from Atishi because the 'Sheesh Mahal' is under the scrutiny of the CBI and ED regarding the alleged corruption in its construction.
The PWD reaction comes after Atishi accused the centre of cancelling the allotment of her official residence at 6 Flag Staff Road for the second time in three months. Atishi said that the eviction notice was served a day before the EC announced the polling schedule, suggesting political motivations behind the move.
"An official residence does not matter to me. I will work for the people of Delhi from the streets if needed. When they snatched away my official residence, I pledged to provide Rs 2,100 to our women. I will provide free healthcare to our elderly," she said.
Meanwhile, the PWD said that the 6 Flagstaff Road residence is under scrutiny of CBI and ED. The agency said that one of the conditions while allotting the house to Atishi was that she would have to cooperate with the probe agency in the CBI and ED investigation. However, the CM deliberately did not take possession so that the house remained closed and the investigation is stalled, the PWD alleged.
